One of our employees has been diagnosed with Gender Identity Disorder (GID). This is an accepted diagnosis in both the medical and psychological fields. Part of the treatment protocol leading up to gender reassignment surgery is a requirement to change paperwork, dress, lifestyle and documentation from male to those of a female. This company is supporting her as she complies with the requirements within the scope of usual and customary medical procedures. Though not included within the Americans with Disabilities Act as a handicap, the company is according her the same protections from harrasment as those whose handicaps are observed externaly.
